Food Safety & Handling Disclaimer – Yatara African Foods

As a food retailer operating under the Food Act 2014, we follow strict food safety standards. However, proper storage after delivery is the customer's responsibility. We are not liable for the quality of products where customers have failed in their handling responsibilities.

1. Product Handling

Once your order is delivered:

  • Inspect items immediately.

  • Refrigerate or freeze perishable items promptly.

  • Store dry goods in cool, dry conditions.

Failure to store products correctly may result in spoilage or reduced quality.

2. Allergen Notice

Some products may:

  • Contain nuts

  • Contain gluten

  • Contain dairy

  • Be processed in facilities that handle allergens

Customers with allergies must check product labels carefully before consumption.

We are not liable for allergic reactions where ingredients are clearly stated. If in doubt please contact us through our details.

3. Shelf Life & Expiry Dates

  • All products are checked prior to dispatch.

  • Customers are responsible for consuming products before expiry.

  • Best-before dates indicate quality, not safety.

4. Imported Products

The majority of our products are imported from Africa and may:

  • Have packaging variations

  • Contain different labeling formats

All imported goods comply with New Zealand food import standards.

5. Customer Responsibility

We are not liable for:

  • Improper storage after delivery

  • Spoilage due to unattended deliveries

  • Consumption beyond expiry dates
